Mark Valens: Head Teacher and Grade ThreeMr. Valens is from Calgary, Canada. He has a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Calgary and a Master of Arts degree in language arts curriculum design from the University of British Columbia. He has taught elementary, junior and senior high school as well as at the university level in Canada and Japan. He is very happy to be the English 3-2 homeroom teacher.

Chris Austin - Grade OneMr. Austin is from London, England. He has a Bachelor of Primary Education (Hons) with a minor in French. He has been teaching in elementary schools in Japan and in Europe for over fifteen years. He is currently the English homeroom teacher for 1-1 students.

Peter Maddalena - Grade OneMr. Maddalena comes from New York in the United States of America. He has a Masters of Fine Arts from Lehman College, a Masters of Science in Education from City College, a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Fordham University, and an Associates of Applied Science in Studio Art from Parsons School of Design, all in New York. He has taught for twelve years in an elementary school in New York city and he has lived and taught for one year in Seoul, Korea. He has taught at TKS since 2012. He is currently teaching 1-2.

John Cavenagh - Grade One
Mr. Cavenagh is from Winnipeg, Canada. He has a Bachelor of Education specializing in Early Years from the University of Manitoba. He has been teaching elementary school in Korea and Japan for 17 years. He is the 1-3 homeroom teacher this year.

Tony Bacon - Grade TwoMr. Bacon hails from Edmonton, Canada. He teaches grade 2-1. He has a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Physical Education degree. He has been teaching for more than 25 years. During this time he has taught high school English, junior high science, conversational English, and physical education. He has taught both grades 1 and 2 at Tokyo Korean School over the last 12 years.

Amanda Harris - Grade TwoMs. Amanda Harris is from Florida, USA. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education from FAU. She taught in Seoul, Korea for four years. She has also taught, in Japan, for four years. She is very happy to be the English 2-2 homeroom teacher.

Christian Metrick Grade TwoMr. Metrick is from Toronto, Canada. He has a Masters of Education, Bachelor of Education, a Bachelor of Arts (History), and a certificate in Electronic Business. He has experience teaching primary/junior level students in Canada, the Middle East and Japan. In addition, he has also taught English as a second language to adults in Canada and Japan. He has been working at Tokyo Korean School since 2015. He is currently the Grade 2-3 English homeroom teacher.

- Rodel Songkip Grade ThreeMr. Songkip is from Cebu Philippines. He has a Bachelor of Secondary Education with a major of English language.He has taught elementary and middle school in Thailand and Japan for over 10 years. He is currently the Grade 3-3 English Homeroom Teacher.

Gavin Darvell - Grade FourMr. Darvell is from Chesham, England. He studied a BA (Hons) in Travel and Tourism and later a Master of Arts in Education at the University of Bedfordshire. He taught at upper elementary, college and university level in the UK and since returning to Japan has been a substitute teacher at two International schools. He is very happy to be the Grade 4-1 English Homeroom Teacher.

Kevin Waterman Grade FourMr. Waterman is from the United States of America. He has a Master of Arts in Education with an emphasis on Curriculum and Instruction in ESL and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. He has taught elementary through high school in Japan for over 15 years. He teaches grade 4.

Aaron Brown - Grade FourMr. Brown comes to us from Australia. He has a double degree - a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Science (Physical Sciences). He has taught at Tokyo Korean School since 2010. Currently, he teaches grade 4.

Samuel Ikeda - Grade 5Samuel Ikeda is from Kentucky, USA. He has a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Murray State University and a Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics from Teachers College, Columbia University. He has taught at English for 18 years at elementary, junior high, and senior high schools in Japan. He is excited to be the English grade 5 teacher.

She is a licensed K-12 teacher for the state of NH with a specialty in ESOL. She has taught students of all ages and abilities for over 10 years. She is currently working on her MS in Elementary Education. She teaches grade 6.

Paul Cartlidge - Grade 6Mr. Cartlidge is from England, United kingdom. He has a B.Sc degree in Psychology from the University of Birmingham and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from the University of Liverpool. His subject specialism is Science and he is licensed to teach all ages and subjects. He has over 20 years experience teaching children in the U.K. all the subjects of the UK National Curriculum and he has taught English as a foreign language in Japan.

James Stacey - Grade 6Mr. Stacey is from the U.K. He graduated university with a Post Graduate Certificate in Elementary Education (PGCE). He then completed his N.Q.T Certification in a state elementary school as a grade 3 teacher. He is licensed to teach early years through to grade 6 in the U.K.
